Glenn Pray Auburn Cord Group Newsletter
April 2008
Things have been very busy here in Broken Arrow for the past
8 months. We had the Auburn Cord car show in June, and have
been selling Glenn’s books. We’ve sold over 420 of the 500
Numbered books. Any books after the 500 will be signed by
Glenn but will not be numbered.
NEW TAIL LIGHTS LENS for the original Cord and the 8/10
Glenn Pray Cords have been shipped to us. At 82 Glenn didn’t
want to make a big run of lens, so we had a small run made.
With Glenn at 82 and the man who makes them at 80, they both
want to live long enough to sell this batch, but may not run any more. The Glass lens, made from the original Cord Dies, are
$75 each and $7.50 a pair for shipping. If you don’t have a spare
you might think about it.
As most of you know, the Glenn Pray Cord parts have been sold
to Clarks Corvair. Calvin Clark has Cord number 19. He is getting a pretty good inventory of parts for the Cords. You can contact Clarks Corvair in Mass at clarks@corvair.com or call
413 625 9092.
The AACA is now accepting the Second Generation Auburn and Cord in a class of their own. This display class is for factory-
Assembled manufactured vehicles that replicate the look and style of a previous make and model. Vehicles must be 25 years old or older to qualify. Vehicle acceptance is on a case-by-case basis and
at the sole discretion of the AACA Vice President of Class Judging with the approval from the class judging committee.
Factory-built vehicles in this class may include, but not necessarily limited to, Glenn Pray-manufactured Auburns, Cords, and Samco Cords. Others included in this class will be Avanti II, Clenet, Shay-built Model A’s and Zimmer. For more information contact Hulon C. McCraw, 101 Dausuel Trail, Hendersonville, NC 28791
We have sent a list of the current owners of the Glenn Pray
Auburns, Cords, and Samcos to the Class Judging committee. So you may hear from them directly.
A few more cars were found. In the past few months, we located Speedster number 13, 46 and SP106. We also have a name to go with #56. I think we have about 70 Speedsters on the list and the
Glenn Pray Cords are at 70 of the 97. The Samco Cords are 70 to 80 cars located. We have located 8 of the 17, Auburn Dual Cowl Phaetons. So our group just keeps growing.
One of the owners of a Samco called last week, and said that the power window motors and regulators are from a 64-65 Thunderbird. Maybe that will help anyone working on the windows. If you know what some of the parts used on the Samco are, let us know. I’ve been in contact with Dale Williams. Dale’s
Dad, Howard Williams, ran the Samco operation. They are looking for a parts list among all of Howard’s stuff, and any information that may help you find parts for your cars.
We still have a few of the engine turned dashes for the 8/10 Cords,
Auburn Speedsters, Early and Late Samcos. Cord dashes are $275 and the Auburn Dashes are $300 for the pair. Shipping is $12.50 in USA.
If you don’t have one the Glenn Pray’s Book “The Man Who Bought Legends to Life” they are $60 plus $5 S&H. We’ve had nothing but good press on the book. The book has 8 Pages of colored pictures, 158 pages, and around 80 black and white
Pictures. It is a hard cover coffee table type of book. It’s like the Automobile Quarterly Books.
