Messages from Felix De Geyter

My name is Felix De Geyter, I was the General Manager and Parts Manager for the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Company during the building of the Cord 8/10 Sportsman.

Since I’ve retired, I’ve been helping Glenn Pray put the history of the Cord 8/10, the Auburn 866 & the Auburn 874 together. So far we have 11 albums of newsclippings, magazine articles, photos and other information.

We would like to include in the history a current list of owners. We have an orginal list from 1966, and a list from 1982. We would like to update our files. So far we’ve located 20 of the current owners. If you still own your Cord 8/10 or know who bought it, or know of someone who has one of the cars, please send the information so we can update the file. We are trying to have a complete history file on each car. Anything you can send would be appreciated.

As I proceed with this project, we hope to have a web site that will help you locate parts, and information on the Cord 8/10. We hope to produce a newsletter from time to time.

Any help or information that you can send us would be appreciated.

CORDially yours,
Felix De Geyter

YES, we are going to have the Glenn Pray Car Show this Spring. We are going to hold it here in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on May 12th and 13th. They are building a new Hotel and hope to use it for Banquet and rooms. More details will follow.

I’ve been out of touch with a lot of you because of the illness and death of my father. I spent many weeks and trips from Oklahoma to California. He had 86 GREAT years and was on the front page of the San Fernando Valley paper with Arnold and Maria. They called Arnold the Governor and Dad the Onion “KING”. As he had farmed onions in the San Fernando Valley for over 70 years.

To bring you up to date, we’ve located 48 of the Auburn 866 Speedsters, 9 of the 874 Dual Cowl Auburns, 60 of the Cord 8/10’s, and 52 of the Samco Cords. Is seems we don’t find anything for a while and then will locate 4 or 5. If you know of any of the owners of these great cars, please have them get in touch with us.

Glenn Pray just turned the Big 80 last month. His health is still good, and he is at the ACD shop every day. If you have questions, or need parts, or just want to talk to Glenn Pray, you can call him at 918 251-3161. During the Day he is there from 10 am to 1pm, and returns around 2:30 and stays to 5 pm. He still has the Dial phone, and no answering machine. So if you miss him call back, he’s the only one that answers the phone. So you don’t have to go thru a secretary to talk to him.

We are making more dashes for the Auburns and Cords. We also have Dashes for the original Cords. Prices for the New Engine Turned Dashes are from $250 to $300. Everyone that has bought and INSTALLED the new dashes really love them.

Glenn still has a few of the Glass Tail light lens at $55 each.

During the Sept 2005 Auburn Festival, the Glenn Pray Auburn-Cord Group, had a Dinner in Auburn with Glenn and his family. We had over 40 people attend. Sandi Burrows made up 130 T-shirts and we sold all but 5. We have 3 XL’s and 2 Large. They are $20 each, plus $5 shipping. First come first serve. Everywhere you looked you would see one of our shirts. It was a great weekend and I think we all enjoyed ourselves. Glenn and “Our” cars made the Front page of the paper.

The Book that has been written on Glenn Pray is kind of on hold. We need some help getting it Published, if anyone knows someone who can help us, please call Glenn or Felix. Josh Malks has done a lot of hard work on the project, and Glenn has spent “Big Bucks” getting it this far. Can anyone out there help??

We do know of one Cord 8/10 that’s For Sale and One Samco, both are priced at $17,000 each. For info call or e-mail me.

This Newsletter is short, but I will try to do better. DON’T FORGET TO PUT MAY 12TH AND 13TH on your calander.

We sure enjoy talking to all that call.

Thanks,
Felix De Geyter
