Pray's Passion" Shown at
Bare Bones Film Festival
"Pray's Passion," a documentary by Cameron University associate communicator professor
Dr. Matt Jenkins, was accepted into the Bare Bones International Independent Film Festival
in Muskogee, Oklahoma, April 19-25, 2004. The documentary chronicles the story of Glenn Pray,
president and owner of Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Company. In 1960 he dared to do what others,
including Preston Tucker, had attempted -- to build and sell a new type of automobile. Not
only did he do it once; he did it again and again. First he introduced a modern version of
the Cord automobile; then he introduced a modern version of the Auburn Speedster.
The Bare Bones Independent Film Festival, created in October 1999, is a popular destination
for independent filmmakers and movie buffs from across the U.S. This seven-day event offers movie
screenings, seminars, panels, workshops, career days for youth, movie site tours and an awards
gala where the "Best of the Fest" and "Indie Trailblazers" are honored.
As a member of the Cameron faculty, Jenkins earned the prestigious "Harold and Elizabeth
Hackler Award for Teaching Excellence" in 2001. His credits include "Historical Treasures, Stories
of Our Past: the U.S.S. Nautilus," a documentary covering the first nuclear-powered submarine to
cross the North Pole. The film premiered at the Greenwich International Film Festival.
"Pray's Passion" was shown in a public showing at 1 PM on April 23rd, 2004 at the Roxy
Theater in Muskogee, Oklahoma. It won first place in the competition.
